Some people are just blind to the suckiness of their team. Check out this guy's Montreal blog. Ovechkin to Les Canadiens? NON! If anything he'll want to join the league's most valuable (Where it counts...the balance sheet) team, the TO Maple Leafs. So I'm gonna suggest that Montreal stockpile young talent and plan for the future and let the oversized contracts to us. The only problem I forsee is that Ovechkin would actually be worth a $100 million contact, so it'd end up being a smart move. And that's not our style.

I'm glad to see you've read my blog about the MONTREAL CANADIENS......maybe you're a closet Habs fan!!!
I have to agree with you about the Leafs signing useless players to huge contracts, you guys have the monopoly on that dubious distinction (ie-Pavel Kubina, Bryan "own goal" McCabe, Todd "pylon" Gill, Jason Blake).
If Ovechkin wants to be with a team that doesn't have a bright future or hasn't won a Stanley Cup in just over 40 years then signing with the Leafs will be his best bet. On the other hand, if he wants to play for a team which has a bright future with numerous great young players, available cap space to sign players, Ovechkin's bestfriend, Andrei Markov and did I mention #2 ranked organization for prospects in their system, then Montreal is the place to be,.....I almost forgot to mention that Montreal has a night life after 1:00 AM!!! We don't roll up the sidewalk in Montreal.
